Hello,
A few weeks ago I found out I was able to purchase a new tank. My original plans was a 120. Now looks like I can get a good deal on a 150. The dimensions are 72x18x29. I'm planning on placing my order this weekend unless I can get a good deal on a 180. Only b/c I like the 24 in. width. My dream tank though was the 210 that they had. It was 72x24x29. But I'll see what the overall price comes out to , but for now it's definately the 150. I was wondering if that's a descent size for larger angel fish or if the 18 in. width still limits me.

Right now I plan on inlcuding my huma trigger, yellow tang and my pygmy angel in that tank. Other than that I'm all up for suggestions about stocking.

For some livestock these are some that I really like.
dwarf angels
swallow tail angels.
blue ring annularis (for the larger angel)
red sea racoon butterfly.
royal gramma

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Oh also forgot to add on thoughts about cycling this 150. As of right now 100 lbs. of live rock to start the cycling is in my budget.

Well, I just ordered a 210 gallon. And should be here this weekend. I'm also purchasing 100 lbs. of live rock to start off also. The tank is 72x24x29.

Now w/ the yellow tang , trigger and pygmy angel any other ideas w/ live stock?

I still would like to add a annularis angel.

Hmmm...

I dont think I'm going to comment much on this one, because I'm more into smaller reef fishes than FO/FOWLR tanks with larger fishes.

I would like to throw some ideas out there though...my own opinions.

First off, I think clown triggers are really cool. The pattern on them is insane and so diverse, I've never seen anything like it.

Another fish with a wild design IMO is the sailfin tang. These guys get big; in the wild, upwards to dinner plate sized. There's two varieties, and I know the colors on both can be outstanding. Watch out though, they can be bullies...I know Nate had one with an interesting attitude.

RIP lil fella

A personal favorite of mine is and always will be some of the many varieties of anthias. In a tank that large, you could keep them in the big groups they deserve to be in, but they'd most likely dominate your tank so you'd have to reconsider the rest of your stocking.

A tank full of fairy wrasses would also look amazing IMO. So many to choose from...

Oh that reminds me...something that seems to fit the genre of your tank might be the harlequin tusk wrasse. Bizarre fish, kinda cool looking though.

*thinks*

This is a daring recommendation for someone with little experience, but some other beauties IMO are the regal tang and the moorish idol. Neither are a beginners fish though, just things to consider in the long run.

Big fish...big fish...hmmm

There are many gorgeous angels out there, full grown queens and blues are quite a sight. French, koran, and emperors are quite common and loved by many hobbyists as well.

I can see lionfish happening...they are sort of, ermmm, venomous though. Doesn't mean we can't keep them, just that we ought to be careful. Same goes with clown triggers, they'll give you a nice bite if you aren't paying attention. Lions are beatiful. (sometimes...)

I'm sort of rusty on larger fish, maybe Nate could help us out a bit? *cough*
