It depends on the volume of water, your filtration and the bio-load on the tank. I personally run my ozone 24x7 however I have it hooked up to a redox controller so it doesn't overdose and send the redox too high... however, I try to adjust the ozone output manually until the controller set it on nearly all the time to avoid stop/starts, I personally believe it's better to keep things running at a constant rate than turn things on and off in marine tanks... wouldn't it be nice to have a heater that turned itself down as it got towards the correct temp, so it could keep the temp more accurate, and keep the temp from swinging as it turns on/off as with thermostats.... same sort of idea.
