I know that it depends on a number of factors but whats a general idea for water change percentages and frequency. Also how much do you do on your tanks.

I personally like to do larger water changes once a week. When I had my 180 set up (with 80g refugium) I would do a 50g water change once a week....on my current 10g I do a 6 gallon change every week.

A lot depends on what type of tank you have (reef, FO, FOWLR) and what your water parameters are at, etc.

For a FOWLR would 20% be good on a 75g w/o sump. Also is it generally cheaper to get salt from lfs than on the internet.

Id say buying salt online is generally more expensive, but that is due to the expensive shipping because the buckets are heavy.

So unless an online place has a free shipping deal its probably best to just get it locally.

I only do 25% on my tank - 30G with 30G sump = about 40-50G of water volume. I try my hardest to do that once a week. Right now it's understocked and underfed, so there's not much waste buildup.

I also like the book Marine Fishes by Scott Micheal for a reference guide.
