Snails would probably be ok, but it would be touch-and-go depending on how the hermits treated them. As for a landing, You can pile up any aquarium safe rock, and I think the tank would look good with some rock in it. Also, with a bunch of rock in there, it might be possible to get a small rock dwelling type fish in there without worrying too much about those big hermits. I'd think a freidmani pseudochromis might work out, if you get the rock. Otherwise any fish is a sitting duck at night. I'd say that's turning into a nice little setup calla.
