Myabe this is really not the right forum to ask on, but I was just curious if anyone can help me find out...

After having witnessed that catching of a 4' long (probably "teenage" Marlin on my summer vacation, I wonder, how big is a Marlin fry, and what do they look like? Are they as cute as our pet fish fry?

Thanks in advance for humoring me!

well, everything has to begin off small, so I'm willing to bet they do as wellthough as to what the juvenile and adult look like I don't even know that one either So just making a crazy guess, babies are cute, fry are babies, so all fry are cute

Yep, I'm willing to bet they start off looking like every other kind of fish fry - at least for a few weeks anyway. You know the type: little skinny body, big ol' eyes. After a few weeks I'd imagine they start to develop a body type with their beak and everything - the same way that fluke (flounder) begin to turn onto one side, or eels begin to elongate.

My bet is that Marlin, like other open water fish, have planktonic fry. Tiny tiny. However, I would guess they must have some similarity to other fry in that they look like tiny worms with big eyes.

Livebearer fry are a bad comparison to most fish fry as they, despite what we may think, are already quite "fully developed". Many fish are not that developed when they hatch, and so if the livebearer fry are what you are referring to as "cute", marlin fry are "cute" in a more undeveloped different way, if they can be described as "cute" at all.
