So this ummn, well by far the weirdest question you'll ever see here, I don't really understand my self. So this morning, I had 2 clowns and 2 damsels in the tank, when I got home tonight I had 1 clown and 1 and 3/4 damsels (luckily just parts of the fins missing).... I assumed they killed each other though all were a peaceful species. Thats when I noticed wet paw prints.... now Ill just say CATS ARE EVIL and leave this story at that.
My question is, besides trying to find out if just my cat is evil or is all of them, will the cat be ok? Are there any toxins in or on the fish naturally? I know clowns can tolerate stings, but not how, so I worry about the slime coat of the fish.
Again Im sorry for this bizarre question but no one I know can give an actual answer. Though they freaked out my sister saying now the cat is going to get ich, which was somewhat funny.
And for anyone else with cats, I am attempting a variety of ways to prevent the cats from doing that again; if they work Ill post them.... if anyone has already done so please feel free to post here....
Thank you.
P.S. I really do like my cat, it's just she was so very cold about it, then as I sat crying beside the tank, well not crying more like whimpering, she tried for the rest of the other one, purring the whole time, hence the evil comment....

The cat should be fine, I'm sure he's eaten/licked more dangerous things around the house.

But, I wouldnt necessarly say Damsels are a peaceful species, because they generally aren't.

You could go to the hardware store and get some egg crate. This is just an open plastic grid that is used as a light difuser (look up when your in an office building and you're likely to see some). You can cut it with scissors and make it fit right on the rim of your aquarium. This way it will still be an open top, but your evil little kitty won't be able to get her paws in because the holes are too small.
