I have a fully cycled 20 gallon tank that I want to keep as a FOWLR setup. I have two yellow-tail damsels in there right now, that I will return to the pet store if necessary. I know I can't keep anything large, but what are your suggestions for a nice centerpiece fish for this tank? Thanks.

Now, I have never kept saltwater fish myself, but I do have a favorite fish: The Royal Gramma fish. I would highly recommend it as a centerpeice. They are small, so bright and colorful (if purple is your fave color this is the fish for you), and every time I see them in fish stores I am amazed at how inquisitive and friendly they are, just how very personable they are, coming right to the front to check you out and say hello.
Heres a pic:

Flame Angels are amazing. But I'd say a 20 may be a bit too small for one. They are pretty active swimmers.

20 gal should be ok for Flame Angel...they stay at about 10 cm...I agree that it will be one of the best centrepiece...I also like the Lemonpeel Angel (Centropyge flavissima)..which is similar in size with the Flame

I like all of these suggestions, but are these fish compatible with the damsels I have, or do the damsels have to go? Thanks again.

I would get rid of the damsels, as they will actually get larger. It will take some time, but they have the potential to grow about 10-12cm. And they will become aggressive. I would suggest the flame, or most any true dwarf angel, as they will stay under 8cm. And, you can have some other small fish with them, without worries.

On another side, you could put several of the many many different fairy wrasses in that tank. They stay under 3 inches (7-8cm), and you can keep the same or different kinds together without problems. Unlike most SW fish. They have some of the most stunning colors, and many are easily found at most lfs. Try the flasher wrasse, or something along their size and design. Wrasses are always active, and have great personalities.

HTH......
