My mom insists on having a clownfish. How many should I put in a 46g bowfront? I was thinking of stocking with 50lbs live rock, 1neon goby, 1-2 cowns percula?, and eventually adding 1dartfish or pseudochromis. |

If it is going to be a reef, count on stocking very low as wastes such as nitrates are very harmful to corals. For a reef i would suggest 2in. of fish for every 10 gallons. In a 46 gallon this would give you about 9 inches of fish to have. You could have 2 percs and 1 dartfish or a smaller pseudochromis as theses stay small anyway. 1 thing i would suggest though, if you are going to keep the neon gobies i would go with a pair. In a FOWLR tank you can have a maximum of 3in. of fish per 10 gallons. This would give you about 13in. of fish for a 46 gallon. You could have 2 percs, 2 neon gobies and 1 dartfish or a smaller pseudochromis. Also, you would not have to worry about cyclers since the live rock will do it for you. Hope it goes good. ![]() |
