well, this morning my dad woke me up saying that mu clownfish jumped out of the tank and went carpet surfing, anyway i dont know how,why or when it happend. The only other fish in the tank are another clown, cherub angel and a yellow tail damsel, i dont beleive it was any of them as they were all afraid of it.

my parameters are ph8.3,ammonia 0,nitrIte 0, nitrAte .25, sg 1.024

Clownfish are known to jump, its best to have a cover for your tank. If you dont want to buy a cover, then dwarf angels are good fish that normally dont jump, (your cherub should be safe, and im not sure about your damsel.)

I've never heard of Clownfish being jumpers. Its certainly not a trait of the fish, like Wrasses or anything.

My guess is it got chased out of the tank. #1 suspect would be the Damsel fish.

Carpet surfing!! Sounds like my ferret, nicknamed carpetshark. Anyway...

Okay well clowns aren't usually big jumpers, but I wouldn't hesitate to think like Mikey, damsels are VERY active and could make even the most peaceful fish act kinda skittish. (sp?)

You really should have at the very least a glass canopy over that tank, because if you aren't around to catch him next time...well...RIP little shishie. Plus it'll help to reduce evaporation. It's a worthwhile investment.

BTW...I have had fish jump myself. Two flasher wrasses. I think it was a group sucide. They had no access to kool aid, so they jumped together.

I even have a glass canopy. They both managed to get out of the 1/2" space in the back where my protein skimmer is hanging.
