Background: I'm treating a yellow tang and a picasso trigger for velvet. They're in a 30-gallon quarantine tank, with water from the main tank, plus a filter pad from the wet-dry filter, and Marine BioSpira added for good measure. There's no ammonia reading, but the nitrite reading is so far off the chart it's not funny ... literally off the chart. ba The only thing I can think of is that the coppersafe has something to do with it, but the package insert doesn't say anything about it. Anyone else have this experience? Last edited by lmuha at 04-Sep-2005 20:35 |

He says it depends on what the manufacturer used to chelate the copper -- it may be something that's nitrite ba Either way, you'd think they'd mention in their instructions that that could happen, because I just about keeled over when I saw the reading yesterday ... Now I'm glad I thought for a second before reacting, because the obvious thing to do would have been to throw a nitrite reducer like Amquel Plus in the tank. But that also binds copper, and I need the copper in the water for the parasite treatment ... |
