so i was at my not so local fish store today, and i found the smallest hermit i have ever seen the thing was under 1/2 an inch, this doesn't seem bad, but he was in a tank with much larger crabs and a puffer, though the puffer was small, i felt sorry for him as i assumed he was to be lunch so i took him home.

The only problem is, i don't have food for the ebh, they say i should feed sea weed, but no one i know sells it, not even the store i got the crab from.

what other kinds of things will he eat?

also what's a good name for him?

Crabs are pretty opportunistic when it comes to food.. Anything that makes it to the substrate is pretty much good eats for them.. My blue legs and scarlet hermits really seem to enjoy shrimp pellets and all the bits of frozen food that make it to the sand.. Chopped silversides, pieces of fresh shrimp, etc. etc.. Not to mention that they spend a lot of time picking at my liverock, looking for goodies..

For the seaweed, check out your local grocery store.. If there is an ethnic foods section there, you've got a good chance of finding nori (seaweed).. You'll also get it for a heck of a better deal at the grocery store than you will at the LFS.. If you feel like exploring, the asian markets are always fun to go rooting around in as well

also what's a good name for him?

Good Luck with your new hermit..

Nah.. It's ready for human (or crab, as the case may be) consumption without any type of preparation.. I don't do anything special with mine other than cutting it up into small squares before putting a piece on the food clip..
