I recently purchased 1 percula clown (tank raised) on Friday. I'm not sure how this fish should act but all he does is swim in one place and bounce around a little when I come up to the tank. Is this normal? I was under the impression that they're very friendly, swimming towards you and all over the tank. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know.
Second question is too see if it would be possible to buy another percula (preferably smaller) in a week or so. Can this be done without fighting? Thanks for your inputs.

They generally "host" in a particular spot. Sometimes with powerheads, theremometers, or just a spot. They don't really wonder around the tank per say.

It may do ok if you add one in the future, but generally I think they are more likely to pair up and live happily if introduced at the same time.

I agree with Mikey, if you want to add another sooner is better than later. I had only one for about a day. I bought him a friend and they have been happy ever since. If you wait too long to add the second fish then you could face some territorial issues.

The only thing is that I was impatient in buying him,"nemo". I'm in the last stages of my cycle so adding another fish my be catastrophic. Is it possible to add another one without screwing up the cycle?

Adding one fish while cycling will probably be a disaster on its own.

Had you waited for the cycle to finish, you could have easily added a pair.

As mentioned in my other posts, I have done this whole thing kind of "backwards" than what is recommended. I started out with 6 chromis. 2 died, 1 brought back to the LFS for a Fiji Damsel. Added 35 lbs of cured live rock. Then I bought a diamond goby, and after he was introduced the fiji damsel croaked. Then added 20 lbs more of rock, 10 lbs were uncured. Then added 10 lbs live sand to my 65 lbs of sand/aragonite. 1 chromi died, 1 chromi added. Then added the clown. So now after a month I have 2 heathly chromis, 1 diamond goby, and 1 clown.
If I had to say anything about myself it would be that I'm impatient. However, I"ve had very minimal fish loss, which is my goal. Right now things are the way they are until my cycle is completed. Its hard to imagine though that 1 small fish would throw a cycle off.

What they are trying to tell you is the cycle is harmfull to the fish not fish harmfull to the cycle. That being said one little fish will not prolong the cycle very much, but 10 LBS UNCURED sure will.Try and go slow....watch the ammonia till its 0 then watch until the Nitrites are gone.Do a water change to lower the increasing Nitrates and THEN add another fish or to.

OK, I have just read some of your other posts on the board. You seem to be intelligent,so the problem is just your impatience! sorry for telling you the basics in the post above but get a grip dude. Read a book or play some videos, the cycle will be over soon!

Understood completely. I think what I was trying to imply is adding 1 new fish to the later stages of a cycle. I was under the impression that by adding a new fish will throw the cycle off and it will take more time.
When considering a new fish, I took hardiness as most important attribute to the fish. After doing research I found that tank raised perculas are some of the hardiest marine fishes (because they're tank raised). So, I purchased one. After a week, he seems to be doing fine.
I agree though that patience is a major factor when working with fish. Its hard though, I'm sure you all can agree with me.
