I've heard that regal tangs need anywhere from a 50-125 gallon tank, which do you think is true, is it hard to make them eat and are they hard to keep Thanks ![]() ![]() |

Bigger would be better though. If I recall Nate said he wouldn't even keep one in his 180. Of course you'll meet others who keep them in MUCH smaller tanks. |

Though I don't own one and never have, I wouldn't go below 90g for one, just for safety's sake. Obviously, a lot will depend on the stocking level of the tank--how high or low that is. |

In a 400 litre tank (around 100 US gallons) I have a regal (juvenile at 10cm) which is housed with other tangs (Powder Blue, Yellow and Kole). They all get along fine (Yellow is currently 'the boss' though) and the Regal seems the most peaceful with them and other tankmates. I've never experienced any problems with aclimating them or with them feeding. Accepting that its maximum length is 30cm in the wild and that aquarium species shouldn't reach this by far, I don't see a huge problem and would recommend a Regal tang to people with tanks of 120cm + |
