Sounds somewhat like a goatfish. check this link http://www.thepetstop.com/fish_shop/fish/Goatfish.html to see if they are similar.

I know it sounds kinda gross, but you could taste the water for salt. Also, while the goldies CAN swim in SW for a bit, they SHOULD be freaking out about it. Their bodies are being shocked by making osmotic changes which aren't normal at all. Another way to tell if it is SW is ask the people who own it I am also thinking that it is more of a scorpion, or frogfish

A lot of people feed FW fish to fish in SW tanks, its a bad idea though. Health wise it ends up being bad for the SW fish. Lots of liver problems due to being fed freshwater fish.

Goldfish cant live long term in SW, but they can swim around long enough that a large predatory fish can eat them.

no, its not a goat fish, or a stone fish, it looks like it is 10 inches long, eats relitivly small goldies, like 3-4 in in length, but can someone answer my question? if it is sw then wouldent the goldies have a massive reaction to the change? i thought goldies could not tollerate salt, i think maybe they made a mistake, and maybe its not sw? that i the bigges question in my mind, in the vidieo, they fed it a blue gorami a black moore, (which they called gorme food) and common goldies, and im not sure if they did feed it the poor betta btu they showed a clip of in in a bowl, the one they normaly keep the goldies in their set up for the goldies is a 1 gallon bowl, a bubbler, and i think gravel, and i saw like 6 good sized ones in there 1 of the main reasons i want the fish is to stop ihe inhumanity

Okay, I see what you are saying, but there are varied types of goatfishes, many of which have large fleshy lips (not so noticeable in the photo. One of which actually changes colors as it gets older, here is a link to show what it looks like in brown http://www.austmus.gov.au/fishes/about/fieldwork/solomons/pcyclo.htm. Many others change colors when they get stressed. As for "that fish swims, this fish doesnt have a swim bladder, so it stays on the bottom" I naturally assumed it swam why you stated "it is lightnigh fast when it strikes and has a big mouth." Also, many goatfishes lay on the bottom, waiting to be fed. I will keep an eye out for some other type of fish that has extensions coming out of the chin area.

that doesnt look anythink like it there are so many things wrong with it, 1) that fish swims, this fish doesnt have a swim bladder, so it stays on the bottom, 2) its yellow, i said tan/brown 3) that fish doesnt have big thick lips

ok according to my brother it is brown and has spikes, it lays on the bottom, so i guess it has a flat stomach, it has been fed i guess only twice a month, poor thing, and has been fed goldfish, frogs, all sorts of unnatural things, any idaes on what type of fish it is? oh, and its in a 40 gallon, and its about half the size of it, i feel if i can get it, i can sell it to someone with a much larger tank

well, he taped it, so i got to see it in action they feed it goldfish, it looks like it is 10 inches long, so its pretty small, it remonds my of a freshwater darter, the way it sits, but as soon as i saw it i thought goby or blenny, it has little extentions coming from its chin, it is broen in color and has thick lips, it is lightnigh fast when it strikes and has a big mouth, apparentyly he doent have the money to care for it, so it gets fed only once or twice a month, the thing that baffels me is when the goldies are put in, they dont have any reaction at all, in the tank there is a large rock cave in which the fish hids and lives, there is a large bubbler and i dont know if there is a difference in freshwater and saltwater heaters, but the heater looks like a freshwater, does that help at all?

I second the frog fish idea, but it sounds like it could also be some sort of angler fish.

My first thought was a Scorpionfish. Some are rather spiny, and I believe they like to just hang out on the bottom of the tank.

I wouldnt be surprised if it is in fact a frog fish or something like that. If it lays on the bottom I highly doubt it is a Puffer of any kind. LiveAquaria.com has a great stock of SW fish, maybe check on there and see if you can spot it.
