I have a yellow watchman goby (yellow shrimp goby) in my 6 gal isolation/hospital tank. She? has been in there for about three months and is doing great. I want to put a shrimp in there with it (her?) and was wondering if they will form the relationship other shrimp gobies do. To clarify, I want to put one of the more colorful mantis shrimps in the tank since the goby (Boo) will eat the more ornamental shrimps as it (she?) gets bigger. Btw, how can you tell the genders apart?

A mantis shrimp will not pair with a goby....it will most likely see it as a meal. I believe you are thinking of a Pistol shrimp.

You're right, sorry about the name swap! I was thinking of a PISTOL or maybe a marble shrimp. Will they get along?

The best bet in getting them to live together is purchase them at the same time. Of course certain fish are more likely to go with certain shrimp.

Ahhhhh..... Too late for me on the same purchase time. I'm upgrading to a 10 gal for the hospital. Can I just put both in that at the same time with the same effect?
