i dont know very much about dwarf pike cichlids, but have you ever thought about a leaf fish or butterflyfish? even though fairly large for a 16g (each grow to about 4in), they are fairly inactive and should be happy in there

and btw, welcome to fishprofiles

From the info I've found on Dwarf Pike Cichlids, they reach about 6 inches, which to me sounds a little big for a 16g. How wide is the tank? I am not good at visualizing the length of fish and a certain tank, so I could be wrong about it being too big.

I saw that a 55g was suggested for a pair, so the 16g may be too small for one, depending on how active they are.

African Butterfly fish is a good suggestion. They are pretty inactive an stay at the top of the tank. I'm not good on predatory fish, mine are all peaceful.

The thing with most predatory type of fish, even the smaller varieties is that they are larger by nature than a lot of the more peaceful species and as such require a larger tank than what you mentioned.

If keeping predatory fish is really what you want to do, you would be well advised to go to a larger tank and I would think at a minimum a 55 gallon would suffice for some of the species.

I agree that tank is too small.
