No you cannot have 2, they will kill each other. Catfish of small kinds (3 inches or less), like Corys are a good option for this size tank. Keep in a group of 6. Not sure what kind of Pleco you have, but if its a common pleco, you should return it to the pet store, they reach 18-24 inches. Browse through www.planetcatfish.com to find what kind of pleco it is. A good stocking for a 29g tank would look something like this: 1 Red Fin Shark 6 Cory Catfish 8 Cardinal tetras == thatd be fully stocked, even slightly overstocked, but with 1x weekly water change of 35% would be doable. Which party (if any) got the sharp end of the stick? But in the tank at the store they hade at least 12 red finned sharks in the same tank. Thanks Fish or cut bait. |

You probably got a good deal on the price. The sharks are kept together in the store because they will only be in the store temporarily. This way of being kept in crowded tanks with each other can negatively influence their behaviour by making these fish much more aggressive. I had one that came out of a crowded tank like that, and had to return it to the pet store because it was trying to kill my other fish (all of them). I later purchased one from a pet store where the sharks were kept in individual tanks, and have had no issues with aggression since. You should never keep these fish together, except in large numbers in very large tanks (100 gallons +), and even then they can still kill each other. These fish are highly aggressive towards conspecifics. (meaning you cant keep a red fin with other redfins, red tail black sharks, flying foxes, etc).
