I got a new foot tank that I sold the contents of yesterday. The dimensions are 2'x1'x1' LWH. My original plan was to do a paludarium but now I'm not so sure. I was thinking of a possible shellie tank for some Brevis. Can someone give me some options as to what I could do with it. It is a 15gal.

I don't know much about shellies, but I think they would work very well in a 15 gallon, provided you give them some shells to breed in. You could also do a small community tank if you wanted.

In my 15 gal i have
1 Betta
5 Black Neon Tetras
3 Albino Bronze Catfish.

I am getting another tetra and catfish, and eventually the catfish will be traded in for pandas.

I was also considering Dwarf Puffers. You could have 3 living happily in a 15, and it would be very intersting

You could try a cichlid tank, based on some shellies or maybe a dwarf cichlid (like a ram)

You could also do a (small) biotype such as an asian (1 Honey/Dwarf gourami, 6 Harliquin Raboras, 4 Dwarf Loaches)
an american or a amozan.

You could also try (i nearly did this in my tank) a tank based on trio of cherry barbs/Sparkling Gouami, with some ottos and a few small corys.

The choice is really up to you. Do you prefur big or small fish???

I had rams in the tank before but I sold them. I have also had shellies and was wondering if I should dedicate a tank to them. I want to avoid a community tank. What other options are there that are usually never seen?

You could do a tiny fish tank. Something like:

6 male endlers live bearers
6 dwarf rasboras

These fish are both around 1.5-2cm long at the very largest, but are quite delicate too. These fish are quite unusual but if you can get hold of them, this tank would look very unusual and amazing.

shellies would be fine. There are plenty other interesting fish as well but some of them are challenging. I reccomend some good research before getting any of these:

African Butterfly Fish
Dwarf Pike Cichlid
dwarf cichlids
leaf fish
dwarf puffers
arrowhead puffer
congo puffer
dwarf puffers
half-beak
Butis Butis

That size tank would be great for shellies! Brevis aren't colony-type shellies so you'd probably do best getting 5-6 to start with. They require a sand substrate and ~2 shells per fish.

Multies would make a nice colony in a 15g. They do no like substrate and will move it to the back and corners of the tank. I have a very thin layer of crushed coral in my 10g multi tank and it's amazing to see the piles they make of it. A sand substrate can possibly cause problems if they pile it up near the filter intake. Multies like shells, lots and lots of shells! You could start out with 6-8 and soon have a nice colony.

I chose Brevis because they are easily available to me and aren't that expensive. Will they move the sand?
