"so what does anybody think about those Products"

I don't think it matters what we think. You have what you have & I'm sure they will work fine for you.

I'm not good on stocking advice, so I'll leave that up to others. Congrats on the bigger tank! That IS a big jump! A 30 gal. is a decent size tank.

Welcome to the site.

Opps! The only advice I have is to make sure to remind you to cycle it. I assume you know about that. If not, you can go to the FAQ at the top. Good luck with your new setup.

Good see you took the advice and got a nice-sized tank, youll thank us for it, honestly. No panicking on fish lists just yet though, youve got 21 days of cycling to go before you can really start loading it up with fish.

Question is, what would you LIKE to put in it? Make suggestions and then we can help you fine tune your stocking levels and compatibility.

On the products what can I say, the deed is already done. Im not especially familiar with the aqua tech product line, but i saw that the integrated hoods dont always give you the lighting wattage you might like, but they are compact and tidy. I know aqua tech do a few models of filter with a bio-wheel, is that what you got?

Good to hear those tetras are going into a proper home, that 5 gallon is way too small for them .

Not sure what type of filter is running on the 5g right now, but what I'd suggest is to set filter, heater ect up in the new 30, transfer the filter, water, gravel, decor and fish from the 5 to the 30 and start it cycling with what you already have. By jumpstarting the cycle like this you'll speed things along and reduce a bit of the stress on the fish.

If you can get some of the easy low light plants to start off with that will also help smooth out the stress of cycling for the fish by consuming some of the ammonia. I suggested hardy low light plants since it sounds like the hood you have won't offer up enough light for most tropical plants. The fish won't like it too much if in the middle of the cycle the plants start dying and increasing the ammonia levels even more.

Once the 30 is cycled and the biofilter established on the new filter you can transfer the filter and some water back to the 5 gallon if you have plans to keep it running. There are some stocking options you have but with a tank that small they are somewhat limited.

As for increasing the stock on the 30. Once it's cycled you might consider increasing the tetra population to 8-10, schooling fish always do better in larger schools. Some of the smaller species of corys for the bottom, and maybe another school of some small fish. Remember to increase the stock slowly to allow the biofilter to catch up.

^_^

Only thing I'd change is the heater. It doesn't have numbers on it does it? That means it only puts out a set amount of heat depending what setting you put it on. When the room temp goes up or down the tank temp will go up or down. Not too bad if your house is always the exact same temp but otherwise it can lead to bad temp swings and stressed fish. It's also harder to adjust such a heater to the temp you want the tank at and cheap heaters like this have a high failure rate. Either getting stuck on and cooking your fish or just dying rather randomly. When it comes to heaters the extra money is almost always worth it. My favorite are visa-therms especially their stealth heaters but most any heater with numbered temp settings would be an improvement.

well the Tank I bought came with the a 100 watt Heater and the 20 to 40 Gallon Power Filter only thing I plan on using from the Old Tank is maybe the Air Pump I have a really good Whisper 100 watt heater in the 5 Gallon I'm not sure if I'm going to use the Aqua-tech in the 30 Gallon or The Whisper Heater Ohh and to Babekfish I had 5 small Black Skirt Tetra's in my 5 Gallon and it supported it but they died when we had a major power outage that lasted a couple of days http://www.photodump.com/viewer/antman08015/IMAG0018.html thats my 5 Gallon and my 30 Gallon is here http://www.photodump.com/viewer/antman08015/IMAG0019.html

Whisper heaters are exactly the cheap heaters with high failure rates that I'm talking about. I've got 5 dead ones sitting in the closet that I haven't gotten around to throwing away. I wouldn't rely on one for anything. I doubt I'd even set it up temporarily for cycling a tank since chances are by the time I add fish it wouldn't be working.

The aquatech filters are fine. They are surprisingly one of the most reliable filters you can get despite being so cheap and sold everywhere. Usually my first choice unless I want to spend money on an aquaclear.

hmmm the one that came with the tank is a Aqua-tech heater I've had this whisper heater for 2 years now no problem but it was only in a 5 gallon tank shall I say it was too big of a heater for a 5 gallon but I just kept it on low and watched the temp
So really do you think the Aqua-tech Heater would be better then a Whisper Heater??

I have had three whisper heaters for quite a while now and haven't had a problem with them. I probably haven't had as much experience as sham, but they've worked for me.

That's a turnover rate of 5 times per hour, so you're okay with that.
