Used, definitely but if its new probably more like 350$ us. I know you can get a new stand at walmart for 80$ (works great) and a new hood for 60$. I bought a used tank and filter (55g) for 80$. so my total was 220$ for a used tank/ filter, new stand and new hood. hope this helps

For $280 I think you could buy everything but the gravel. So depending on the price of the gravel you want, you could get everything new for about $300.

If you got your tank used, then yes, you could definitely get all your stuff for $280. If it will all be new, I'm not so sure. I got my 55 gallon with tank, stand, light, gravel, fluval 304, and a bunch of other stuff, for $175. You might not be able to find a good deal, depending on your area.

Good luck!

I just purchased a 50 gallon and had to re-purchase everything for the new tank as the old equip was insufficient. Everything all up cost me about $350 AU, and I thought I was lashing out! Things in the USA must be heaps more expensive!

I must admit though, I found this warehouse place near by that sells large quantities of gravel REALLY REALLY REALLY cheap!

You should be able to find a complete setup(used) for under $200, with everything you need. At my LFS their 55 gallon w/ wood stand and hood, w/ light are $230 new, but that doesn't include a filter, heater, or gravel.

I recently purchased a 55 gallon w/ wood stand, lights, filter, python vac, heater, gravel, fake plants, decorations(ugly castles), nets, food, 4 silver dollar fish, 2 bala sharks, 2 tiger sharks(some odd striped fw fish), a large cat, and a few tiger barbs for $200

I put the fish in my pond for now, soon they'll come inside or be given to a friends dad for his larger tanks, due to the fact some of these fish will grow out of the tank, and we will keep our feeder goldfish in this tank for the coldest of winter's wrath.
