Hi, everyone. I consider myself "new" to fish-keeping as it has been many years since I took down my 20 gallon. I recently had set up a 2 gallon kiddie-tank at work; established it, and had two glass fish and a spotted cory in there. The tank cracked! (It was an old one I had) So, I had to get a new one.

I bought a 5 gallon. I vacuumed, transfered everything over to the 5 gallon while keeping the fish in another glass bowl with airstone and w/ water from the established tank. Once my tests were coming out consistantly (2 days later) I acclimated the fish to the new tank (one glassfish died before going into the new tank).

I think the tank is now ready to house new tank mates. The glassfish and the cory are now "friends" and can often be seen hanging out in their cave side by side! I want to get new fish, but am reluctant to interupt the "relationship".

Does any one have suggestions? I am a bit bored with tetras by the way.

Thanks!!!
Sophie

Welcome to FishProfiles

Corydoras need to be in a school & so i don't think that 1 Cory is very happy.

In my opinion, it's better to keep a Beautiful Betta in a 5gal. tank.

Thanks for stating that you don't have DYED Glass fish.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, after researching I think I'd better get some more Corys. Poor guy is probably lonely. And, I think I'll get one more glass fish, three corys and maybe two guppies.

Thanks for the welcome! I'll definitely post when I cycle up my two 20 gallons! This site is GREAT!

That's part of the stocking for the 20 gallon, right? That could definitely not fit in the 5.

In the 5 gallon I'd put a betta, or some dwarf puffers, or some killis.

For your 20 I'd get 5 more cories to make a school (remember, all 1 kind), and 5 more unpainted glassfish. Then you could get the guppies or a dwarf gourami as a center piece fish. Glassfish are schooling too.

Welcome to FP!

Thanks for the reply! Ok. So, that is too much. I haven't started the 20 yet as I still have to get it from storage.

I am open to suggestions ... actually... PLEASE send suggestions! Again: 1 glassfish, 1 Cory, 1 5-gallon tank. What would you do?

Also, I have turned on the other aquariasts at work to fishprofiles.com! Everyone's impressed!

Thanks for the help!

I would wait till I got the 20 gallon set up. There isn't enough room on the 5 for proper schools, so you might as well not jeopardize the fish in there by adding more.
