I currently have a Juwel Aquarium, but am looking at getting a second aquarium. So far, looking at the many makes and models out there, and knowing that this time I'd rather go for one with an external filtration system, the AquaOne tanks take my fancy.

Has anyone had any experience of these? Recommendations/pitfalls? I'm looking to get a tank 240 litres plus...

I'd go against buying a tank that comes prepackages with filter ect. A lot of times you pay more and end up getting lower quality items than if you were to purchase each item separately.

I think I've used an Aquaone HOB filter once, I wasn't too pleased with it. Stick with the better known brands, even if they are a tad pricey. That said We're running Aquarworld canister filters on two of our larger tanks and they seem to be doing a decent job. Very quiet and fairly easy to maintain. I'd still recommend going with an Aquaclear if you're planning on an HOB or an Eheim if you're looking at a canister.

Are these the all-in-one top filter dealies with the powerhead/spraybar setup? If so, and I would not have believed it if I had not tried it, they are very good tanks. I have only got an 8G (AR380) in that brand, but the configuration in larger tanks is similar, and is surprisingly efficient. It would depend on your stocking levels, but the powerheads are beefy and the spraybar over the media does wonderful things for bacterial growth. Cleaning is quick and easy too.

I can overstock that tank more easily than other systems, but I believe filter media room decreases as the tank size increases in order to fit in lighting etc and for hood stability. I know a few of the setups allow for the adddition of canister filter hoses should you require extra, but I'm not sure if it is the models you are looking at.
