Hi there, I am currently cycling a US 65g tank with 2 serpae and 4 bleeding heart tetras. I would like to have a community tank but would like some suggestions about what to have in it from some more experienced fish people. I know I would like a group of cory's but I am not sure what else and how many of each. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks

Well I'd first suggest filling out your schools of tetras that you have now, say around 6 of each or more.

As for corys, there are so many and they're all really cute ... I have albino bronze and they're the most active fish in the tank.

I'd suggest having a look around your LFS and writing down what you like the looks of, then let us know and have a look @the profiles section and we'll plan your stock from there .

Babel is right. We can't tell you what you should get. Go look at the LFS and come back and tell us what you want. We can then help you with your stock. It is your tank after all.

in a large tank like that you have the chance to have a few really nice sized schools. like everyone else said, check out the fish that you'd like to have and work with that: if you're looking towards fish that should be in schools, i'd suggest having maybe 2 species of fish, with a larger number of fish per school as opposed to a number of species with only a few fish per school, especially with the cories - the more there are, the more active they'll be. just my opinion, anyway.

only bummer is, if you're doing a fishy cycle with only those six relatively low-waste producing fish, be prepared for the cycle to take a fairly long time.

good luck!

Thanks for your replies. I think I will build up the schools of tetras I already have, plus some cory's and maybe a school of rainbows. Nowherman6, I originally had 4 bleeding hearts and 4 serpaes, but 2 serpaes and 1 bleeding heart died within 3 days of going into the tank, I have tested the water and everything reads zero, so I don't know what happened to them. Would you suggest putting some more in to speed up the cycle, or just waiting it out with the remaining 5. I don't really like the thought of any more dying though and the remaining fish seem very robust. They have been in for 6 days now. Thanks for your help everyone.
Debbie.
