IMO, it is a lot of money (don't forget shipping) for something you really don't need. Filter media like sponges and wool do a great job. If you are cycling your tank and you want it to go faster, look for something called 'New and Improved Cycle,' or even better, 'Biospira.' Yet again, none of these items are necessary in a cycled tank, or even if you are cycling one. HTH
