Hi

I am nearly ready to set up my 90gallon tank

I have read somewhere that if water stands for one day then chlorine disapates into the air - is this true and likewise if I were to fill the tank and let it stand for one day could I be sure that all traces have gone?

Can I run the heater and pump during this period or does the water have to be still?

Thanks in anticipation

It's generally recommended you let your tank run for 48 hours with filter and heater to allow the water to become aged and become the correct temperature.

I hope you are also going to do a fishless cycle.

Thanks for the reply

This is my second tank - in the first I used a dechlorinater - but to save a bit of expense I wondered if letting the water "stand" in the tank wether this would have the same effect

Thus running the heater and pump for 48 hours will this ensure that Chlorine is disipated?

The tank will be fish less cycled

Regards

I dont think that water that has been just sitting there is good for a newly set up tank. I would add conditioner anway just to be safe/

Letting the water stand will get rid of chlorine.

It will NOT get rid of chloramine. You don't want chloramine in your tank. Get some conditioner.
