Clear Ammonia. Question | |
kaboke Fingerling * Newbe * Posts: 28 Kudos: 15 Votes: 3 Registered: 04-Dec-2006 | Im doing the fischless cycling with clear ammonia on a 20 gallon high i put 10 drops in every day and now after one week it still does not schow anny ammonia traces (I do the test every day ) is this normal the ammonia that i'm using is the brand from lowe's and it is called Red Max Clear Ammonia Kaboke |

If you seeded the tank you might actually be adding a small enough amount of ammonia that it's being turned into nitrites already. Do a full set of tests ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate and see what you get. Also what are you using for a test kit? Strips are notoriously inaccurate and could give you a false reading. Liquid tests are much more accurate. If everything tests 0 and your kit is good then I'd double the amount of ammonia and test a couple hours later. If you get a positive test then you just weren't adding enough. Different ammonia solutions are diluted different and so require different amounts to cycle a tank. |
