I just don't get it.....STILL nothing on the ammonia or Nitritea! But the water is getting cloudy and starting to smell. I was wondering if maybe having the activated carbon in the filter media was causing the problem? Or am I just confusing the fact that carbon will render meds useless?

Another thought I just had, I did rinse and clean fairly aggressivly the aerobic grid on the filter where alot of the nitrifiers thrive, but I did not scrub it. Now the filter has been on full blast since it has restarted so any remaining bacteria would immediatly recieve the oxygen it needs, maybe most of the bacteria survived????

Yep, refrain from doing the water change, your tank could just be starting to cycle now. And if you do a water change it will slow the process even more...just remember patience is a virtue!

Another question, although I am getting 0ppm readings on Ammonia and Nitrites, my water is getting cloudy. If the tank isn't cycled, should I refrain from doing a water change? That will just slow the process down right?

Alright BBNP, as long as you know I am holding you personally responsible for all and any happenings in this newly set up tank.

Now Jessnick don't kill me or hate me if it goes bizark, but yeah, I'd wait another week, and see how it goes...I'd think that the load you have in there would be enough to set the cycle going myself, especially if the only of thing you want to add is 2 angels...it seems it should be cycling if it hasn't ...

Ok I'm muttering...

Give it a week, and add your Angels...then keep an eye on the tank, to make sure all is fine...Best of luck Heidi

So if after another week I still don't see any signs of ammonia/nitrites, should I assume the tank is cycled? More importantly, is the amount of fish and type of those fish not enough to cycle a tank like this?

Go another week and see how it looks. I don't see how it could already be cycled, but heck anything is possible...But, like I said give it another week or so before adding the angels...Heidi
