Can anyone recommend a homemade lid for a medium-sized glass fishbowl? I've got a snail in mine temporarily, and while I've never had a "jumper", you never know...

I was just going to rubber band some Saran Wrap around the top and punch holes in it, but it seemed kinda flimsy. Any ideas?

Depending how big the snail is ....a CD will work. Use an AOL or other junk Cd. Dont use a CD-R or any type of burned cd as the backing film is more likely to come off.
Sran wrap does work but you have to make sure it's fully attached....I've stepped on killie fish that made it out the back of a tank that was supposedly sealed up with sran wrap.

Some people also use that firm plastic canvas stuff available at craft stores.

Possibly a top off of a tupperware or rubbermaid type bowl might fit, or how about a lid off of a can of coffee, various sizes available there.

I have four tiny pieces of sticky velco (the soft side) stuck to the very top of the bowl, (directly across from each other so that you could draw an + from them,) and then I have a pretty glass side dish that I place on them. They hold the dish up enough that air gets through still.

I was leaning more towards the plastic canvas idea myself, this is what i've used to create a lid for my 10 gallon and it works great

For a fish bowl, just trace, or approximate the lid size needed and cut it out of the plastic canvas, then just for some fun or weight is the main purpose, string some beads on thread or fishing line and attach at various areas to weight the lid down...it works great heidi
