i was just wondewring but in an earlier post i asked how to clean my tank, and i did that w/bleach.some one said i used 1 cup of bleach to 19 cups of water, well actually i may have a problem b/c i used a little extra bleach but i scrubbed down the tank, then scrubbed it down w/a washcloth w/just plain water no bleach, then rinsed it good,so i dont know if it is ok to put fish in. the person also said over use dechlorinator mine is aquasafe, he said use 2 to 3 imes the directed amount for even a faint bleach smell,so i had a small smell of bleach so i used 3 times the directed amount, but im not sure if im still smelling it or if it is just a new "fresh Water" smell and it actually smells like the heat from the hood is reflecting and making the water have a smell.(if that makes sense)i dont think it is the bleach im smelling but i just want to b sure b4 i go adding fish,i dont think this b/c i washed the tank then did and extra rinse followed by a towel dry.
PLEASE HELP!!!!
Thanks a million

Any remaining bleach should evaporate in a couple days.

The advice you were given sounds good. Basically bleach is just concentrated chlorine on condition you used un-scented chlorine bleach. The active ingredient should be sodium hypochlorite. If this is the case, just treat it like dechlorinating water, only more thoroughly, as you've been doing.

Additionally, bleach is stored and sold in opaque bottles because it breaks down in sunlight (pretty sure it's the uv) if @all possible move the tank out into the sun. Obviously this wont work too well if it's a large tank. Otherwise just rinse rinse rinse and use extra dechlor.

Bleach breaks down chemically in a few different ways. Personally I like putting bleached objects in the sun to dry, the heat and light speed the process up a bit. Really you'll want to rinse it more than once with dechlorinated water. Personally I use warm/hot dechlorinated water and rinse the tank until I can't smell any bleach at all, then rinse it a few more times to be sure. Let the tank dry completely before filling it, I have even used a hair dryer to get it to dry faster (the heat will also "kill" any remaining chlorine that might be lurking on there).

Please, in the future, don't post the title all in caps. It comes off as very loud and obnoxious. Thanks.
