How do you know if your heater is working? | |
thebroadwayninja Small Fry Posts: 7 Kudos: 4 Votes: 0 Registered: 29-Dec-2006 | I got a kit that came with a heater. i set the temperature on 79. I put the thermometer on before i started the heater and it was at 78 already. I thought it might be the light so im leavin it off for a while... i dont have any fish in yet... getin it perfect first. If anyone has helpful info feel free to post. |

Most heaters (but not all) will have some type of an indicator light that comes on when the heater is actually on and heating the water. This light will not be on when the heater has cycled off. The best way to check if the heater is functioning properly is to monitor your tank temperature regularly to insure that the heater is maintaining the temperature where you want it. Jim |
