At my local LFS here in Kingston, Ontario you can buy a Hagen 25 gallon kit with a heater and an aquaclear filter etc for $125 canadian not including taxes or a Hagen 33 gallon kit for $185 canadian. Not sure if these are good prices or not? A 30 gallon bare glass tank, 30x12x18 is $43.99 canadian. If anyone in this forum is from canada and can comment on these prices, let me know.

Wow... I am in Nova Scotia and a bare 55 gallon is $350.00. I saw a hagen 10 gallon kit in the lfs for $65.00 and that is without a heater. When I am ready for a new tank I just might have to take a road trip to ON

here in BC, Near Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island, I payed 89.99 for a 25g tall tank with heater, filter, hood, and other supplies. A 10g cost me 39.96 with all the goodies. Ive seen a 90g bowfront for 749.99 with hood, stand, lights, and filter.
A bare 10g tank costs 9.99-14.99, while a bare 33g tank runs about 39.99.

Near Toronto, a new 10 gal with canopy (which holds 2 compact flourescent bulbs which you buy separate) is $40.
I really like the top so it was worth it for me.. By the time I added all the extras about $120..

Bigger tanks should be bought used to really save cash..
I bought a 90 gal corner tank on e-bay for $260. or something like that. With a partial top, stand, and light.
Same tank new ? Over $800.

Garage sales and auctions are good places to also score cheap tanks, as is peoples garbage. lol.. Found a 29 gal on someone's garbage pile..

The Amazon Nut...

Around Edmonton can get a 29 gal for 119 for light $ canopy, heater, therm, air pump. The kits for the 10 gals around 40.00 at certain lfs. I seen 55 gal kits go for 240.
like dafishman said second hand tank are good way to save, but be careful. I bought a used hagen 29gal, It came with stand, light filter gravel, heater therm and other access for 80. It also bought 68g the other week with 2 aquaclear 300 and all the other accessory for 100, but it needs to be resealed, which I will do in the next couple weeks. The glass with the 68 is in excellent shape. So just check the tank carefully.
