My 3ft aquarium | |
Brengun Big Fish Posts: 355 Kudos: 187 Votes: 110 Registered: 22-Jun-2007 | Hello all, I have been so busy reading everyone elses posts, I didn't realise I hadn't posted anything yet, until someone in the chatroom pointed out my error. My first ever tank is a beauty. It is a 4ft wide by 3ft high plastic stock trough which I filled with gravel, water and plants so the local green tree frogs had somewhere to breed. I put in some mozzie larvae eating fish and a couple of sucker catfish. Then I fell in love with a couple of bn catfish and the lfs assured me they were hardy enough for an outdoor pond. Wrong! The poor little things froze in Winter. I hastily rounded up the 3 suckers and 7 of the fish and bought an 18" tank. Hardy little fellows cause I didn't know anything about cycling a tank. To my credit I did use gravel from the pond, water from the pond and plants from the pond. Now I just had to get a bigger tank. Those guys are just so entertaining. I now have a 3ft tank. Sorry, I haven't put the backing on yet in the pic. http://www.somersoft.com/forums/gallery/data/500/medium/Aquarium_006.jpg Also, can anyone tell me what sort of fish I have? I spent hours going through google links on fish but I couldn't find a pic like my fish. http://www.somersoft.com/forums/gallery/data/500/medium/Aquarium_005.jpg |

Known around here as WCMM for short. Some of my favorite fish, I got some at my first fish auction here in oz. ^_^ |

The house had dropped to around 10C and they were fine. They can also handle the higher temps that the tank got in summer. Plus they would chase my zebra danios around . Any fish that can give those guys a swim for their money is great in my book. Forgot to mention but you may have figured it out from the additional photos in their profile, but you have both the standard and golden variety. ^_^ |
