My tanks and many questions | |
goldfishgeek Fish Addict Posts: 667 Kudos: 412 Votes: 38 Registered: 27-Oct-2003 | Well I ahven't been here in a really long time, I pop in and post so rarely these days and don't recognise many of the names. So I thought I'd come here and explain my tank and plans. My 35G 8 mollies 1 keyhole 1 pleco? Am in the process of changing from sand to gravel. I am going to get a Fluval 204 and plant the tank properly I don't think I will change the fish, I may remove the pleco but the mollies are all tank raised and the Keyhole is the last one of three - should I get him a buddy? 15G probably mollies - if they keep breeding. again planted with white and natural gravel, planted with Crypts only. 6g white gravel Java fern - already growing on wood, expensive but I have never got them to grow like that. 12G hex looks pretty good as is gravel, annubus and crypts I am mostly wondering about the stock of the 35 and whether or not the 204 will be enough filtation. thanks GFG Never be bullied into silence. The profile herehttp://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/411.htmsays that they get to be 17.7" but I've seen larger. The minimum tank size is 55 gallons. So if it is a common pleco, yes. You should remove it. |

They are rated for up to 40 gallons I think, and I currently have my 204 on a 50 and so far it's handling things well. There's only 20 very small fish in there though. When and how did the other two die? Maybe it would be better to wait a while to make sure the fish in your tank are not sick, but that depends on the answer to my questions. Have fun, Ingo |

goldfishgeek Fish Addict Posts: 667 Kudos: 412 Votes: 38 Registered: 27-Oct-2003 | the last one died a couple of months ago now see here http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/threads/28209.1.htm?15# He died about two weeks after that I think. The first one just kinda showed up dead at Christmas.... no sign of anything wrong, well except the being dead obviously... Unfortunately since I disturbed things in the tank I lost one molly Currently my LFS only has really big key holes which is a bit of worry since I thought mine was a good size. I might persuade the guy to come round and look at mine to see if her knows what sex it is. he/she is very plain with short fins and is on the small side. I sort of think I had three girls according to the pictures I have seen but i don't know. There is a Fluval 205 now, any views? thanks GFG ps am going to find a picture of my Pleco. I *think* its one of the smaller ones, since he is very pretty. Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself. I'm considering adding a couple fish to my 40, so I'll check to see if any avail locally The Amazon Nut... |
