Make sure you put it in your tank and let it adjust to the ambient temperature for a while before you plug it in, or you risk damaging the heater. As for when to add fish, you need to make sure the temperature stabilizes at a suitable level for the fish you are keeping. I also recommend cycling the aquarium without fish, as described by this article. You could also do this by adding a few hardy fish at first, then gradually adding more to prevent an ammonia spike. ><> |
