Well, I've done it. While we were at Wally World last night, I put in layaway a Whisper 2-10i filter, a digital stick-on thermometer, a Whisper air pump along with tubing, ari stones, and a check vavle, not to mention a rock/driftwood ornament.

It's all gonna be on a new 10 gallon tank that I plan on getting. But I was wondering, what to stock it with?

My LFS has some really nice Microgeophagus altispinosa for only $4.99. I want to include ONE of them as part of the set-up.

So, tell me what you think I should stock it with! All I need is time, more money, a new 10g tank, a heater, a hood/light, substrate, and plants!

Please: Fish must be from Bolivia and/or Brazil!

Not too much else if you're getting the Bolivian Rams! A 10 is a little cramped for the pair of them; provide lots of hiding places (plants, overturned pots, etc.), keep up with water changes, and don't put much else in there. You could feature plants from that region as well. I think a variety of Hydrocotyle is from that area, and I'm sure there are others.

I'm only getting one. I wouldn't dare put a pair in anything less than 25g's. Yeah, I was thinking about some plants from that area, too. Do they have microsword thingies there?

I have a S/A Black Mystery Snail. Would that work?

To grow the plants well, you could get spend some bucks on high wattage light strip, or save some money and get an incandescent fixture, and use the screw in florescent bulbs that say 'daylight' or 'full spectrum'.
As far as fish go, I know that most tetras, cories, and ottos come from South American waters, but I'm not sure which are specifically found in Bolivia and/or Brazil. Look for species that are small and hardy, since it's a 10, and maybe go with one school of a species, as well as the Ram.

I know where I can get a high wattage strip for realatively cheap. Or I could just go for low to moderate light plants.

Not enough room, besides it's too hard to sex them when they are small, in a poorly light tank and are 2ft. above your eye level (I can barely see them).

I've changed my mind. I'm gonna get a goby. I think their name is cute.
