I just bought a "new" used tank. I was told it was a 30 gallon. Since she only wanted $50 for everything, I bought it right away without even seeing it. So, now that I have the tank, I measured it and noticed it wasn't a 30 gallon.] I'm calling it a 25 gallon, even though it won't hold that much. It's 30"x12.5"x16" on the outside. Has anyone heard of this size tank?

that's about the same size as a standard 29 gallon though I think your tank might be a couple inches shorter.

Yeah that what I was thought. It's weird, why would a tank be 2 full inches shorter than it's suppose to be?

Anyone with a 29 gallon tank, how tall is your tank?

outside measurement...from bottom of trim to the very top is 18 3/4". inside measurement would likely be 18".

Are you sure that the tank isn't 36" long?
I've seen them sold as "30 Long" with similar dimensions. Putting the numbers into the site calculator I would come up with 26 gallons .

It's a 25 gal. I had one. Bought it used, I don't think I've ever seen a new 25 gal. It's probably been replaced by the 29.

"Are you sure that the tank isn't 36" long? "

I'm sure. It's actually a little under 30".

Since I already have this thread going, I'll ask this here.
For the stocking, I would like to combine two of my 10 gallon tanks.
I want to have my 6 Zebra Danios, 3 Platies, and 4 Peppered Cories in this tank. And possible add 2 more Peppered Cories.
How's that sound to everyone?

edit: The tank will be filtered by two Penguin 125s.

Sounds like it'll be okay .
I'd even like to see the cory school increased a bit more.
Any plans on making it a planted tank, even if it is with low light plants?

I did get a flourescent hood with this tank, so I was thinking about it. And since I just read about planted tanks in AFM, I would like to do a basic slow-growth setup. But, I still have plenty of researching to do because I have very little knowledge about plants.

Reson I asked is that adding some plants will give you the ability to slowly push your stock limits. In two of my tanks I'm actually adding nitrAtes to combat against low nitrAte issues (cyno for one).
Research is good though and I'm glad you're working on it .
