Oddysea Aquarium vs Eclipse Aquariums...which one is better? | |
FOBolous Small Fry Posts: 5 Kudos: 2 Votes: 0 Registered: 21-Jan-2007 | i'm thinking of setting up a new 10-15 gallon aqarium and orginally, i wanted an Eclipse System 12 Aquarium and while i was going to different fish stores in Houston look for the best price, i came across a Oddysea Aquarium in one of the fish stores i went to. from what i could see...the Oddysea Aquarium is just like the Eclipse Aquariums minus the bio-wheel and that the Oddysea Aquarium is A LOT cheaper. i'm tempted to by the Oddysea aquarium but i've never heard of that brand before and i don't know anything about it. so are any of you familiar with Oddysea products? are they any good? are oddysea filters any good? which brand is better overall? Oddysea or Eclipse? if you were in my place...which aquarium would you buy? the Oddysea Aquarium or the Eclipse Aquarium? |

I'm not sure about the small systems are you are talking about. But I see them running everywhere I go Fish tanks are an expensive addiction |

While some people have good luck with them all the jebo products are a bit controversial. They are made of cheaper parts which gives them a good price but they often break if not handled carefully. Also the tanks with higher light have been known to overheat easily. There are alot of complaints of them getting up to high 80s or even 90F. |

I bought an Eclipse tank setup, and in only a short amount of time the filter broke. I replaced the filter with another Eclipse filter from the store, and it also broke. I ended up having to buy a new whisper filter to replace it. I haven't had any luck with this brand, but that's just me. †Aquapickle† |

In fact when I took the tank down I even modified the filter to run on a standard rectangle tank since it worked so well. I do prefer glass tanks but I've heard of odysseas just falling apart when people go to move them even while empty. The seals are bad and if you aren't careful and/or try to lift it from the top then the top rim splits off and the seals give soon after. One example of how jebo equipment has to be treated with care to avoid breaking it. Not that I'm completely against jebo. I have 2 of their pc lights and an odyssea cannister but follow all standard precautions and don't cut any corners when moving around and using their products. |
