I just brought a PH test kit and want to know if i have to do it everyday or every few days. Does it depend on what the test result is ?

I would test the ph of your tank just once a week. Ph doesn't usually change drastically, but if it does, then you should use your kit daily as you try to find a solution.

Well, what is the pH of your tank? Guppies and bettas are very hardy, and can do well in a variety of pH levels. You shouldn't worry about it.

The strip test generally aren't the best or the most acurate ones out there. So I would recommend against buying that kind from now on. Go with liquid regent tests instead.

What is the pH of your tank right now?

After you tank is set up and cycled, you'll only really need to do pH tests about once a week. Do one right before your water change. And do one on your NEW water, which you are replacing for the old, to make sure it matches.

Dont' even bother adding PH up or down. Not only do they not work, but altering the ph of the tank is often more stressful on the fish then helpful. 7-8 is a nice wide PH, depending on what your water is ( either I missed it or you didnt' report) they should be fine without you having to mess around trying to change the Ph .

If your water is really different, either pick fish more appropriate for your water, or use natural methods of altering the ph.
