Im pretty sure you need a bigger tank for prianha's.

Im not sure what the minimum is, but i would have to say 125 gallons.

PM Shinigami I *think* he's got some good piranha info. Piranhas need large tanks and very special care, they are not to be taken up by a new aquarist. Make sure you know what your getting into before getting these guys.

Piranha are illegal to import and (I believe) keep in Australia. The closest thing we can get here are silver dollars. So you might need to reconsider!

It depends on the piranhas you decide to keep.
Usually the most common are Red Bellies (Pygocentrus nattereri), which get to 12" and should be kept in no less than 55 Gallons, in which you could keep 3. The rule of thumb for RBPs is one per 20 gallons.
There are 3 species in the genus Pygocentrus which can be schooled, but any other piranhas (Serrasalmus, Pristobrycon and Pygopristis) msut be kept singly.

All piranha like a large tank with lots of roots and driftwood.

But, as just beginning said, I beleive they are illegal in Australia.
