Okay ive desicded to start up a new tank next year & I would like to know everything that Id need to know, treat me as if im a small fry & ive just joined the site.Id also like to know what plants I should get (my first planted fish tank)hopefully bright light,
im planning on probably having,
6-12 cories (depending on size of tank)
2-4 angel fish (MAYBE)
2-4 ottos (if I get alge)
2 sparkiling gourmais (if I can find them)
2-6 platies
6-12 small tetras (probably pengwin & rummie nose)
any personality clash there?(remember I still dont know what size tank hopefully at LEAST 30 gals) Are any of those fish not reccomended for begginers?(ATM im focused on plants any ideas?)

First of all, platies like big groups so more than 2 would be needed. I think that the angels would eat the tetras but I'm not sure. Generally they are aggressive fish. Plus one angelfish would fit nicely in a 29 gal...so if you want 2-4 you'll need a much bigger tank. I'm not sure about some of those compatibilities, I just don't know. Maybe someone else will be able to give you some advice.

A 55 gallon aquarium would be a min. size for that stocking. (taking the angles out will greatly reduce the min. tank size.)
