Hi im going to set up a 15 or 20g gallon tank and i was gonna start with 4 zebra danios and then add more fish i hope to evntualy have:

4 (starter) danios
5 neon tetras
6 Guppies
4 panda catfish

and i will have the tank at:

pH: 7 - 7.5
Temp: 22-24c
DH: 12 - 16

it would be great if someone could let me know if i did nething wrong in my figuring im 90% sure these fish are all compatible.. i think ill pace myself at adding them maybe one species at a time as i get better becasue i understand pandas are reletively dificult to keep the only main question i have is on gender shood i do mixed genders within the species and if so mor f than m or what??? thnx

i think you need to rethink and increase the schools of cories and neons. if you can cycle with the danios then return them to the lfs, then maybe lose the guppys and go with something like this.

6 panda cories
8 neons
1 pair of something larger, (maybe dwarf or honey gourami)

the dwarf goaramis ideally like slightly warmer water than pandas but we have kept the 2 together in the past balancing the water temperature between the 2, someone else might be able to suggest another pair that would be suitable to a small tank.
another options is a lone male betta with a school or cories and any non nippy tetra.

edit, forgot to add, panda cories are great fish, but make sure they are in a large enough school, 6-8 is ideal for a 15g

Hi Ben,

I don't know if you got a tank already, but if you shoot for the 20G, take a look at the 20G Long. It has a very nice footprint with lots of surface. It will house more bottom dwellers and mid level fish than the standard 20, but a problem might be the limited height. Your (potential) gouramies might get in the way of the mid dwellers, if there are a lot of them (although rather unlikely).

Here is a link to a picture of a set with a [link=20G Long]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/General%20Freshwater/63561.html?200508281820" style="COLOR: #ff6633[/link] (scroll towards the bottom of the page).

Hope this helps,

Ingo
