captain_dork Fingerling Posts: 25 Kudos: 10 Votes: 0 Registered: 07-Jul-2006 | I have a 2.5 unfiltered,,unheated tank..what else is there besides bettas? Or girl bettas? CAn 2 bettas fit?OR, I have pacman frog(dont worry he has his own 10g )who eats live goldfish, only live. So i was wondering if it would be easier to put them in there, instead of keeping them in a bredding net thing? I could use a kiddie tank bubbly thing.Moo. thank you |

Joe Potato Fish Addict Kind of a Big Deal Posts: 869 Votes: 309 Registered: 09-Jan-2001 | I'm with jmara inasmuch as a betta is probably the only type of fish you could keep in there, and personally I would get a small heater if you were to keep one. As far as keeping the goldfish, I would keep putting them in the 10 gallon breeder net. The extra water volume is going to help dilute all the ammonia that the goldfish pump out, and they pump our a lot. Goldfish are the underwater equivalent of large cows suffering from congential intestinal distress that just drank a half-gallon of really strong hot sauce, so as far as waste production goes, they rank right up there in the fish category. Other options for the small tank: Make it a small shrimp tank. 2-3 ghost shrimp, 2-3 cherry shrimp, or an amano shrimp would be great for a tank that size. Set up an aquagarden. Just do a small, planted setup with no fish or inverts. A small hermit crab tank. Okay, sure, it's not exactly an aquarium, but dangit, hermit crabs are just plain cool. Joe Potato |

Just make sure u get new sponges and carbon for it |

Couple options: Shrimp - find a groovy shrimp you like and keep a few of em. Lots of really neat shrimp out there. A snail - try a neat snail like a small mystery snail, an asolene spixi, or a japanese trapdoor. They get bigger, but could always be traded in for a small one later, or put in a bigger tank later. A trio of Heterandia Formosa - the mosquito fish. Easily a trio can be kept in 2.5g, im probably even understocking these fish. Commonly, 10 per 5g is the usual stocking. Like guppies, but teeny tiny. A nice male or female betta. A pair of white clouds (yeah they need a school and more space technically, but I think a pair could be done well if w/c were kept regular and the tank was filtered. (sponge filters for this size tank or a minute "nano filter". Other than that, im of the same ideas as the rest. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |
