Hi everyone,

I'm new to this, I have a 20 g tank and have finished the cycle process, and I would like to start wtih some blood fin tetra. My question is I had put 2 small goldfish in there at the beginning just to give my little girl something to watch while the tank was in the cycle phase, the guy at the store said they would likely die but as you can guess they are still alive, my question is should I remove them before I put in the tetra???? Thnx

I think it would be a good idea to exchange the goldfish for tetras. Most goldfish get pretty large over time and shouldn't be kept in a 20g tank. Also, they are coldwater fish and wouldn't mix well with warm water tetras. Take them back to the store and get a nice school of bloodfins. A group of 6-8 would work.

Do you have any ideas about what else you are going to add?

You could add a centerpiece fish, like a small gourami. Or a Bolivian Ram.

And if you can find them, a shoal of smaller cories (Pygmy, Habrosus, or Panda) would be great for the bottom.

Thanks for the quick reply Kristin. I'm still not exactly sure what I'm going to get yet, I'm going to go to the fishprofile section and have a look at those you recommended. Thanks for the suggestions.
