"10 adolfoi corries (robinae, duplicareus, and other rio negro species are harder to come across)"

You (or everybody else) must be lucky, then. We have C. robinae at work, but I've yet to see any C. adolfoi. They're on my wish list, but no luck so far.

Cheech- If you can get your hands on some adolfoi, they would be a great addition to your tank. Not only are they hardy, but they are one of the most colorful Corydoras species. Also, it is quite possible to breed them in captivity.

What if I don't dump the sevs, what would be the outcome? What about this new list:

1 angel(found out that it is very very aggresive)
2 severums
10 asst. cories
10 rummynose tetra
8 blackskirts
8 hatchet fish

Cheech- If you want some medium-sized cichlids, you could go with keyhole cichlids. They grow to three-four inches or so, and are very peaceful. If you dump the severums, I don't see a problem with any keyholes.

I know you didn't ask me, but I really like cories and I'll speak up anyways. Some of the ones I really like (besides the aforementioned C. adolfoi) are C. nattereri, C. arcuatus, C. guapore, and the longnosed cories. All of the above, though they often aren't readily available, are great community fish. The longnosed cories are supposedly pretty delicate, but I haven't yet noticed that with mine. If you check out [link=this]http://planetcatfish.com/catelog/fam_list.php" style="COLOR: #808080[/link] link and scroll down to the family Callichthyidae, you'll be able to see most of the discovered Corydoras species. You can check out the pictures and see which ones appeal to you most.

Corry addict- I like your suggestions, but is there any other med-sized fish you know that could get together well with the other fishes, and...knowing you like cories( cories are so cute ) what cories you think are the best of all?

I'd personally ditch the Severums, because they get rather large and some of them can be very aggressive. I would substute them for a trio of Checkerboard Cichlids.

OK, maybe not Rio Negro, because of the fish rarity. What about a general SA tank. Check this out:
4 angels
4 rams (maybe,if not 4 more angels)
8 rummies
8 blackskirt
10 asst. corries
8 hatchet fish
2 pictus catfish (maybe)

Rio negro stocking, modified:

4 "red shoulder" angels (signature rio negro color var.)
2 checkerboard cichlids (Rams live all the way up in the llanos; nowhere near the negro)
12 rummy nose/cardinal tetras (serpaes are not markedly known from the negro)
7 bleeding heart tetra (bleeders tend to be less nippy than blackskirts--in fact, they are among the more peaceful, bordering on shy, of the larger hyphessobrycons)
10 adolfoi corries (robinae, duplicareus, and other rio negro species are harder to come across)
10 Martha's hatchetfish

Cheech- Your stocking list looks good, but I would personally add fish. Those schooling fish of yours would appreciate company, so I'd go with more hatchetfish and more of each tetra. They will be happier in larger groups. Come to think of it, the same thing goes for those cories. That is a pretty big tank for such small fish, so more is better!

To clarify, I'd do at least three more of each Characin (the tetras and hatchets), and at least two more cories. Your fish will thank you.

I think a stock list like this would be good these fish arent the easiest of all fish too keep (especially the rummies and the discus). Though it may seem a bit overstocked I think you could pull it off just as long as you keep up with weekly or bi-weekly water changes.

5 Discus
15 rummies
10 cories
2 rams
15 cardinals
2angels
8 hatchet fish
2 Bn

Hope this helps

Serpae and bleeding heart tetras are two of the nippier tetra species, you want to be careful with them and angelfish. The thing is, those long angel fins are like a giant bulls-eye to nippy fish, and the nipsters (yes, I really just said that) won't leave them alone. I've heard stories about zebra danios nipping pestering angelfish to death. If you really want them, keep a very close eye on the tetras. Otherwise, just choose some different species.

Are you looking to set up a tank that is an actual biotope, with fish/plants from a certain area (say, the Rio Negro)? Or, is it just going to be a tank with all South American fish? Do you care if the plants are South American or not? And, are you looking to go with hardier fish, or some that are more of a challenge?

Sorry for all the questions, but it will help us to figure out what kind of tank you're trying to create here. Welcome to Fish Profiles!
