My twelve gallon nano tank is soon to be heavily planted. Mostly with foreground plants and a few others. But as for fish I have finally thought up a list:

8 Beckfodi Pencils
4 Cherry Barbs
2 Kuhliloaches
3? Ottos
6 Algae Eating Shrimp.

Yes, I know the tank is over stocked technically, but the tank is going to be heavilly planted and the tetras are low waste producers. What do you guys think the fish are mainly red but I'd hoped it would look striking with the bright greens. The Pencils are definaltley going on the list, but cherry barbs/or another ifsh could definatley be a possiblility.

thetunnelfades,

I would say that you could start off with the Pencil Fish and the Otos.

Then you should wait quite a while and see how it all evolves. Overstocking is not only an issue with deteriorating water conditions (and a small tank is naturally instable, as you know) but also with the visuals of having too many fish doing too many different things at the same time. Instead of creating a harmony you might end up with a visual chaos. You know what I mean?

If you have the feeling later that one or the other addition is still feasible then go ahead and add them.

Ingo

EDIT: The tank is established, right?

I would also start with the Otto's & Pencilfish, then see how it will go & gradually add the other fish, if you see that you're not going to overstock it.

Wouldnt the barbs be the toughest fish to start with? Ive always found kuhlis and ottos to be a bit fragile.
