My husband and I recently purchased a 125g long tank. We are looking to consolidate some of the fish from our other tanks into a nice community tank. Which fish will work together to maximize space without overcrowding? Here is a list of what we have:

3 -Lg Blood Parrots
4-Lg Angels
5-Lg Boseman's Rainbows
5-Lg Australian Rainbows
1-Med. Severum
1-Med. Pictus Cat
5-Lg. Rosey Barbs
5-Albino Cory Cats
5-Green Cory Cats
2-Sm. Bumblebee Cats

Also, I need some suggestions for good filtration.
Thanks in advance!!

Hello, welcome to FishProfiles!

You'll be paying at least about $100 for filtration if you don't have it yet; on my 125 gallon I have an Emperor 400 and an Aquaclear 70 (500 gph), and sometimes I still don't think that's enough. You might benefit from going out and getting yourself a nice canister. Otherwise you'll need at least two HOB's; both of the HOB I have are good.

You could conceivably put all your fish in the same tank, I think... Parrots get rather large and can be somewhat aggressive; I have no experience with them but they are the greatest concern to me in terms of compatibility and allowing this tank to be a "nice community". Pictus may eat smaller fish if put put it with some bite-size fish; the fish that may be of concern would be barbs, although they are large so maybe not, and the bumblebee cats, especially if they're small. If the pictus is currently kept with either of those fish, then I wouldn't be worried.

Few words on pictus as those are the only on the list I've ever kept. Not sure what you have them with now, but they do need a lot of space for swimming as they are active fish. They are also schooling, though if yours is doing OK I might be hesitant to add others at this point depending on how long he's been alone. They're very fast, and have really large mouths and will eat anything they can catch (fast remember).

Also they do need a special net, as the standard fishnets will get tangled around the spikes on their fins.

I'd say with the corys and the bumblebee cats you've got enough on the bottom and may chose to keep the pictus in its current tank (depending on the size of course, I'd say a 55 as a minimum for them)

^_^

From your list, Only the pictus and the Parrots concern me, every thing else should work out great. I dont really see anything else that would cause a problem.
