Stone Prep For New Tank | |
dbenn Fingerling Posts: 23 Kudos: 19 Votes: 40 Registered: 31-Mar-2005 | I'm setting up a new 55gal tank and have some stone that I want to build caves out of. It's a thin sliced rock with mica and quartz in it. Does anyone know what I can soak it in to remove the salts etc.. and make it safe for my fish? Any suggestions are appreciated. |

Especially with the mica you might get some bacteria ect.... Also give it a bit of a scrub with some aquarium salts and rinse off all the dirt...should be good to go . ^_^ |

That's pretty much what I had planned to do but a couple of people at work kinda spooked me a bit and thought that the minerals in the stone would raise the ph too high. I'm going to run the tank for a few weeks before adding fish anyway so it shouldn't be a problem. |
