I have a 10 gallon with only two danios. I have had them for about 7 months..maybe longer. I had other fish but they have died. What kind of fish could I put with the danios and how many? I dont know the levels of my tank but I know the temp..usually mid 70s. I was thinking about some dwarf gouramis but didn't know how many to get. Any suggestions would help.

Danios should be kept in schools, but in 10Gal. you cannot keep much.
Maybe you can add 3 more, but i wouldn't add a Dwarf Gourami.

Danios are very active(hyperactive) fish. They are likely to stress out slower swimming fish like gouramis. If you want to keep dwarf gouramis I would suggest returning the danios. Also danios prefer a group meaning 6 or more. You could increase the danios and add a bottom fish like 6 small cory. Otherwise if you don't want to devote the tank to the danio school I would find them a new home and then stock your tank. Dwarf gourami also prefer company more than other gouramis and sometimes do better in a pair or trio. Just don't remove the danios and leave the tank empty for too long or it will have to cycle all over again and you'll lose your fish again.

sham, adding more danios and corys isant sensible..I would suggust bringing back the danios and going from there. If you like schooling i would suggust some neon tetras, glowlite tetras or in that direction. If you like the gouramis you could probably add 3max and then get some bottom fish that arent active such as maybe a raphiel catfish, an upside down catfish, or maybe some cherry shrimp those are always cool.

Have fun

Thanks for the replies..and the welcome! I really don't want to add more danios, i understand they like schools but the only reason I got them was because the guy at the store said they were a good beginner fish..now i'm kinda stuck with them. I think I'll take peter's advice and try adding a few dwarf gouramis and a bottom fish. I'm gonna try to get a bigger tank soon so I can have the fish I want.. but for now I'm gonna try to add some color with the gouramis. Thanks again!

Just remember to make your gouramis happy dont add any schooling fish or active fish they will stress the gouramis. Go with 2-3 fish that are meduim and arent very active such as the upside down catfish but only add one of those...
