I already have a 20 gal. tank with some neons, rasboras, and danios in it, but I want to start a 55 gal. tank and don't know what to put in it! I'm looking to have a very colorfull variety of fish in it, but what? I was thinking panted glass fish till I found out that they were literally painted, now I'm back to neons and rasboras
I really don;t wanna make another tank the same!!
So what other brilliant colored fish are out there?
If you could please post a picture or a link so that I can see your favorite tropical fish.

angels and discus are very colorful fish, but discus are a lot of work to take care of compared to most other fish out there. you could also try a tank of african cichlids, there are LOTS of different color varieties out there that you can put in your tank.

Angels are really beautiful & Pearl Gourami are very colourful. These are both easy to keep fish.

I agree with the pearl gouramis. I have two in my 55 gallon and they are some of the prettiest/unique fish I've seen. Cherry barbs are also nice for some bright red colors, or rainbow fish are always good for their colors as well. Maybe some loaches or cories for the bottom. The options are endless
Good luck with whatever you choose

I recommend a school of good old gold barbs. When they're in good condition they're bright gold with darker reddish areas (eg fins and tail). They're also very hardy and peaceful.

Or maybe a trio of rosy barbs? They get bigger and only the male is the really bright colour (the females are more bronze).

In the pic below yoiu can see gold barbs (they look brighter in real life) also two female rosy barbs and a male rosy (partially obscured). Check out the profiles for better pics of all of them.
