That will help but the ammount it helps will depend on the ammount you transfer. All surfaces in an established tank have the benificial bacteria, but if you move too much from the established tank it may get thrown into a minicycle.
One thing you can do for now is to run the filter for the new tank on your established tank, or if the flow will be too fast for the 10 then squeeze the filter media from the established filter onto the foam or floss of the new filter. Then just be sure to crumble a pinch or two of food into the new tank to feed the bacteria while you wait to stock it with the fish. Moniter for ammonia nitrIte and nitrAte per usual, and just be sure to stock the tank slowly and carefully with the hardiest of your stock first.

ok thankyou, ya the only problen is the filter is huge and too strong for a 10gallon, The girl said wait till the temp goes to the right level and then bring the water to be tested so i gusse thats what ill do.

I was thinking for the stock, 6Corys-2~4ottos-8~10 Harlequin Rasbora-2Keyhole and/or 1gourami- and any suggestions for other fish?or a change?
How about a moonlight gourami? Its says it needs 200L and I am short 181L/need 52gal/have 48gal.
Since its a long do u think i can put 1?
Lastly do ottos have to be in groups of 6?

I hope she didn't mean for you to bring water in right after setting up. If you don't add any established filter media or fish, there won't be anything to test for.

I will be a little different and suggest:
*1 gourami (blue, dwarf, pearl, or thick-lipped)
or 1 angel
*8-10 harlies
*8-10 lemon tetras
*6-8 cories
*1 bristlenose or 3 ottos
*2 rams

2 male dwarf gouramis might show aggression and nip each others. other than that i think your stocking idea is good.

I agree. I've heard of them fighting in a 55g tank...so I would just get one of them, or get one of the larger types.

I also worry about the 2 keyholes. They are peaceful cichlids, but with a pair, I'd worry about aggression. Especially towards the cories on the bottom. I don't know how keyholes are when breeding though...but with alot of the peaceful cichlids, they get aggressive when guarding eggs.

Would the Bolivian Butterfly or blue ram do better then a key hole because there smaller and less aggresive?
Now i changed it to
6corys
10rasobras or some type of similar sized tetra
1(something to clean alge?)
Pair of Blue rams
----suggestions----
Possibly a Dwarf oe thick liped gourami?

Can i mix red phantome tertas with black ones?
